Ron van der Zwaag
Ron van der Zwaag writes tunes that traverse folk, pop, rock and country genres.
He's been home recording his songs and sharing them online since 2008. (Spotify, Soundcloud, Bandcamp etc.…) They're mostly solo projects, with Ron singing and playing all the instruments, (guitar, keyboards, bass, percussion and ukulele).
More recently he’s recorded songs at studios in the Bathurst region working with some talented local producers and musicians who brought extra flourishes and textures to his songs. His album of 17 original songs, (Trigger Notes) was released on streaming platforms in May, 2025. It’s also available as a CD.
Live performance is an area Ron didn’t venture into for a lengthy period (four decades since he played in a band as a teenager). However, he’s been trying to make up for it over the past 8 years or so, playing his original material wherever and whenever he can, (street performance, markets, cafes, pubs, the occasional festival…)
Expect melodic slices of country-tinged folk-pop with bittersweet lyrics which are sometimes frivolous, but always grown-up.
