Monique Rose

Monique Rose is a classically trained soprano and emerging voice in the Australian operatic and wellness landscapes. She holds a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from Central Queensland University (2022) and a Graduate Certificate in Opera Studies from the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University (2024). Her earliest operatic milestone came at age 17, when she was awarded the Opera Australia Regional Scholarship, a formative experience that ignited her lifelong passion for opera.

Monique’s stage experience spans both opera and musical theatre. In 2024, she made her operatic debut as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. Earlier roles include Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, performed with two separate musical theatre companies in 2017, one of which earned her a Canberra Area Theatre Award nomination for Best Youth Actress in a Leading Role. Other highlights include the Persian Queen in The Persian Queen (2020), Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods (2015), and the title role in Annie (2014). In 2022, she was awarded first place in the Mitchell Conservatorium Concerto/Aria Competition, further affirming her developing artistry and vocal skill.

Alongside her musical career, Monique’s own experiences with adversity and living with severe endometriosis have shaped a deeper understanding of the importance of wellbeing, restoration and self-care. Through her personal exploration of meditation, breathwork, sound and the voice, she discovered practices that became an important part of her own journey. This experience inspired her to establish Auresque, a wellness methodology that brings together meditation, breathwork, soundscapes and voice to create immersive experiences designed to support others in finding greater calm, connection and restoration.

As a certified sound bath practitioner, Monique combines singing bowls, voice and other resonant instruments to explore the relationship between frequency, breath and vocal resonance. Her approach draws on both her classical musical training and her personal experience of restorative practices, creating a space where the expressive power of music can meet the quieter, more grounding qualities of sound and stillness.

Monique’s performance work explores the art of combining music, restorative sound and the intensity of the operatic voice. Drawing on the powerful vocal tone traditionally used to convey grand storytelling, the full spectrum of human emotion and the depth of the human experience, she explores how the operatic voice can extend beyond traditional performance to create immersive experiences that evoke emotion, cultivate presence and invite a deeper connection with sound.

For Monique, opera and wellbeing are not separate worlds, but interconnected through breath, resonance and the extraordinary expressive power of the human voice.
